I am still in shock to know that Dave is gone. We went from working at the city summer camps together years ago to being rival coaches in the javelin with him at Tongi and me at DeSoto. We became friends over the years and I will definitely miss our monthly phone conversations and talking to you at meets. He was a great coach who loved his sport, but his athletes even more. He would talk with me for hours over the throws and his athletes. You will definitely be missed by many. Rest in peace buddy.

I knew Dave from way back in the day when he threw up here in Fargo at NDSU. I was very happy to get back in touch with him when I became a coach at Emporia State. Dave was taken much before his due time. He left a great legacy and example as both a man and a coach. I will miss you Dave!

I am saddened about Dave’s passing. I met him in ’91 at Haskell and he was a friend who could always make me smile. I hadn’t seen Dave over the years but met up with him last year. He was the same Dave I knew way back when, still smiling and joking. That’s how I’ll remember him, as a person would could always put a smile on my face.

I am truly saddened by the passing of my friend Dave. We attended Haskell Indian Nations University together and participated in Track and finally graduated together. He is a true friend and was always outgoing and knew how to put a smile on your face. We shared many fun and challenging moments together being that it was competing in track at nationals or just having fun goofing off and telling jokes. I have known Dave for most of my life and have remained close even though miles have kept us apart. He was such an inspiration and motivational person and he will be truly missed by those who knew him. I am not sure how to proceed because many of the great and fun moments in my life have involved Dave in one way or another. I will carry his memory with me and always think of his humor and smile. My condelences to his family and my thoughts to his friends and to the lives of the kids he has touched and inspired in his work. I do not think it was work to Dave because I know that he truly enjoyed working with kids and athletes in helping them achieve their dreams. Keep smiling my friend , you are always with me…

Dave was a classmate and track teammate of mine at Lawrence High, and–in every memory I have of him–he’s smiling. I was so happy to reconnect with him from time to time at track meets after high school, such as the Kansas Relays, and I was so glad to hear that he went on to work with students. He had such a positive impact on me, with his attitude and his work ethic. I really admired him. A great role model, always positive, …always smiling. That’s how he will be remembered.
