  31. Ashley Austin Barker on February 20, 2015 at 11:48 am

I just heard about Chris passing. We were school friends until I moved away just before High School. Chris was one of my favorite people at school. He was always calm, cool, and collected. He was funny and always laughed at everyone’s jokes. Not sure if he thought they were all funny or was just being nice, in retrospect. Either way it was a fantastic quality. Kids can be so mean. Not Chris. Ever. EVER. I got a bit of bullying…nothing severe…so when someone like Chris and his energy were around it always made me so happy. I’m sorry to hear of his passing and send my sincerest love and thoughts to his friends and family. I’m so sorry.

  34. Steve Patton on February 22, 2015 at 7:54 am

I am so sorry and saddened to hear about Chris’ passing. I was a HS classmate, soccer team mate of Chris. He was a great guy and from a great family. It was such a nice surprise to come across each other after so many years at our kids preschool. He was the one that reached out to me and said hey remember me! I would see him from time to time around town and he always would wave and smile or when the opportunity presented itself chat for awhile. I’m sad to have such a good one leave us so soon.

For my TX Aggie ’58 classmate, Bill Hanna: Having lost my oldest son at his age of 46 when he left 2 sons fatherless (grandkids of mine) I can attest to the impact of such a loss. I’ve found that for me the best way I could find to attempt to compensate has been to focus on helping his 2 sons lead joyful and productive lives. Bill, I wish you the very best in this terribly difficult time. I trust you’ll take good care of yourself, Smitty/”Smythe” ’58 B Inf.
