Memorial visitation for Charles Odell Hutchens, 81, Lawrence will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Private inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, Oklahoma at a later date. He passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015.
Charles was born July 16, 1934 in Pawhuska, OK, the son of Frank and Etta Mae Hutchens. He primarily attended school in Borger, Texas and graduated from Borger High School in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Sue Grubbs on January 9, 1957 in Clayton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2010.
Charles was a longtime and loyal employee for Phillips 66 Petroleum Company which took him from Borger, Texas to Oklahoma City, Bartlesville, Kansas City, and back to Bartlesville. He also was proud to serve in the Army National Guard for over 30 years, which included serving in the Korean and Gulf Wars, attaining the rank of CW4.
Charles enjoyed boating, waterskiing, racing cars, and playing golf. He and Betty Sue attended many regional and state square dancing events. They were also active members of the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville, OK.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Hutchens and Chris Hutchens, Lawrence; one brother, Andy Hutchens and wife, Martha, Fort Collins, CO; one grandson, Spencer Hutchens, Lawrence; and nieces and nephews, Sherry Pritchard and husband Bill Farner, Karla Moore and husband, Floyd, Jim Hutchens and wife, Debbie and Mark Hutchens and wife, Nadine. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbur Jefferson Hutchens.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity in his name and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Jeff and I would like to off our deepest sympathy for your loss of Charles. He has been our friend for many years and he will be missed. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Our condolences for your loss. I have known your Dad and Mother since our school days in Borger, Texas and we enjoyed having your family as dental patients for many years in Bartlesville.
You had great parents and I am sure you miss them very much. They did raise two fine gentlemen and I know they were very proud of you.
