Charles H. Thompson

Funeral services for Charles H. Thompson, 84, Eudora will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Hesper Friends Church rural Eudora, KS. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel. Military graveside will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Evergreen Cemetery in Emporia, KS. Charles passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home.

Charles was born June 30, 1931 in Alma, AR, the son of Hershal and Lydia (Smith) Thompson.

Charles served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Hesper Friends Church and American Legion – Dorsey Liberty Post #14.

He owned a television shop in Emporia until he retired in 1993.

He married Alice Harkleroad Thompson on September 8, 1951 and she preceded him in death on June 30, 1991. He later married Cheri Moody July 16, 1995 in Marion, KS. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include one daughter, Retha Friend, Eudora; two sons, Rodger and wife, Suzie Thompson, Collinsville, OK, Deryl Thompson, Lyndon, KS; two stepsons, Aaron Thakker, Neil Thakker; six grandchildren, Chuck Thompson, Barbara Friend, Joe Thompson, John Friend, Kevin Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson; 20 great grandchildren; and brother; Johnny Thompson, Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chance Thompson and two sisters, Marie Ledford and Genevia Cummings.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hesper Friends Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear loved one. The Bible promises that death will be no more and you will see your loved one again in good health in Paradise found at Isaiah 25:8 and Luke 23:43.
