Carole Ann Morgan

Carole Ann Morgan, 72, passed away on the morning of July 4th. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 18th, 1949, and had lived in the Lawrence, Kansas, area since 1971. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mabel Eilermann, sister Glenda Saborosch, and son Phillip Morgan. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harry Morgan, daughter Lily Morgan, sister Elaine Kabrick, brothers-in-law Gary Kabrick and Glenn Saborosch, sister-in-law Lee Malerich, son-in-law Mike Hall, nephews Geoff and Garrett Saborosch, and her beloved dog Rita.

We will miss Carole’s quirky sense of humor and style, her caring and generous nature, her love of books, music, baking, gardening, and dogs, and so much more. Carole made friends everywhere she went and was always ready to lend a sympathetic ear or whip up some comfort food to share. In recent years she was an active member of the Women’s League of Voters and her book club.

To honor Carole’s memory, we are holding a celebration of her life on Monday, July 11th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Lawrence Union Pacific Depot (402 N. 2nd St.). We invite anyone who knew Carole to stop by or stay and share stories in remembrance of her. We encourage attendees to wear comfortable clothing in bright colors.

Harry and Lily, I and so sorry to learn of Carole’s death. Along with your family, I grieve for her. She was a loving person. I have many great memories of her, mostly from when she worked at Pier I, through FaceBook photos-mostly photos, and of course, when we visited with you way back when..

Harry and Lily, Carole made one think they had been friends forever. Carole and Elaine were so open and loving to me when I joined the family. In addition to the traits mentioned above, Carole was very wise and grounded. And optimistic. Carole’s passing leaves a big hole in my heart. We will be there for the memorial.

Goodbye Carole, I miss you already. Thank you for all those pixie dust sprinkled from your talented hands to bless those around you. We have enjoyed the fruits of your kitchen labor, the wit of your conversations, and the clarity of thoughts especially on a book that we were reading together. Memories of you will always be with us.

Carole, after Glenda’s passing, you and Harry, alternating with Elaine and Gary would come across the state to see that Garrett and I were alright. It was always good to have your company to cheer us up. When I had a question or concern, without missing a beat, you always had a common sense answer; this never ceased to amaze me. Your motherly love toward Geoff and Garrett had no end. It was during this time that I stopped using the “in-law” and adopted you and Elaine as my sisters. With love and affection.

Dear Harry and Lily, so sorry for your loss. Carole was such a funny and creative person. So glad we were neighbors a few years ago and got a chance to reconnect. She gave me a pretty sunflower pillow that I am admiring this moment. Rest in peace, Carole.

Memories of Carole will always be part of those that knew her. Mine are from those of earlier times when I would visit you guys about every two years and those of later reconnected times when visits were far too few. Harry & Lily, please know that I will always think fondly of Carole and all those times.

    Dear Harry,
I have just heard of Carole’s passing. I most certainly would have been at the depot with you, Lilly and all of her friends had I known. She is one of the first people, I met in Lawrence way back when. I am so sorry for your loss and sadness. I have such fond memories of her and the both of you together. I live in Perry and so I do not see people in Lawrence very often. She was great in so many ways with a great dry sense of humor. If there is anything I can do please let me know. I am in the book 785-597-5339. I’d call you however; I do not have your number. I wish for you and yours … the best. I do hope Carole had a good passing without pain. It has been so long since I have been in touch. Now, I really feel sad about this because she was someone I always considered a friend. It is too bad we go about our lives and do not stay in touch. We get caught up in our busy daily lives. Today, I have regrets about this thing many of us do. It does go by fast. With love and warm wishes for you, Harry… & Say your prayers…. it helps so much. Patti Norman
