Funeral services for Cainan Thomas Shutt, 5 yrs old, of Eudora, KS, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Cainan died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 of injuries received in a two-car accident on
K-10 highway, near Eudora.
He was born on January 11, 2006 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Thomas C. and Alison Lawrence Shutt.
Cainan was a preschool student at the Inchworm Clubhouse in Eudora, KS.
Survivors include his parents, Tommy and Ali Shutt, of the home, a sister, Courtlyn Shutt, of the home, his maternal grandparents; Chuck & Carie Lawrence, of Overland Park, KS, his maternal great grandparents, Ron & Alice Richardson, of Bullhead City, AZ, his paternal grandparents, Ann & Danny Basel, of Eudora, KS and Thomas & Cherryl Shutt, of Edgerton, KS, his paternal great grandparents, Felix & Marian Shutt, rural Lawrence, KS and Delbert & Lois Breithaupt, of Eudora, KS.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to The Cainan Thomas Shutt Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Kaw Valley State Bank, 739 Main Street, in Eudora, KS 66025.
I knew Cainan was an angel the first time I stared into those big blue eyes. There was a quality about him that was so different from other little guys his age. He had a gentle soul and he adored his mommy.
Through the years since then, I’ve watched him grow up through Ali’s stories, pictures and videos. He never fails to make me smile. I am heartbroken that he was taken from you so soon.
I know that he was the joy of both of your lives. Keep the memories close to your heart, nobody can take those from you. Rejoice in the times you shared and the love you had with him.
I’m so sorry for the pain that you are feeling. Know that your families and friends are helping you carry that burden.

My heart is broken for you. Even though I never met Cainin, his fun loving, sweet personality is apparent in all of your photos, as well as how much you deeply loved and adored him. I can’t imagine how it must feel to know you will not get to see his sweet smile again, hear him laugh or hug him again, but thankfully you have a lot of great memories to cherish. I know Cainin would have been a little stud of an athlete and looked like the perfect mini me of his mama and daddy. Even with everyone’s prayers and kind words it does not change wanting to do anything to bring him back and make it not real and for that I am very sorry. Know that sooo many people love you guys and love little Cainin and his life will be remembered by many people for the joy he brought to the world.

I have no words that will ease the pain you and your family must be feeling. I just want you to know that I have been thinking about you guys daily.
