Brian Michael Dossey passed away on February 3, 2022 in Lawrence, KS at the tender age of 18 years and 2 months.
Brian was born on December 3, 2003 in Kansas City, MO; the son of David Dossey and Susan Hirschmann.
He graduated Baldwin City High School in December 2021 and had embarked on his continuing education at the University of Kansas where he was majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
He was kind, caring, and generous with his many talents. He enjoyed helping. The harder the work the more interested he was. He helped to shingle a roof. He helped with people moving in and out of the area. He truly enjoyed helping and hard work. He was dedicated and determined.
He enjoyed spending time together, hanging out, watching movies with his family, bonfires, deconstruction/demolition projects, pc and video games, Lego creations, and Nerf wars. Setting himself an early personal goal, he overcame a childhood phobia of loud noises to become an avid and excellent rifle marksman.
He holds three family records; one, for most biscuits and sausage gravy eaten in a single meal (8 biscuits); two, for eating nearly 1/2 of a 9×13 pan of Shepherd’s pie, also in a single meal; and three, for falling from the highest point while playing in the willow tree.
He loved the outdoors, taking pictures of sunsets and capturing the beauty of creation. Hiking the trail at Hillsdale Lake was something we did over and over. When he was little he would inevitably end up with a stick bigger than he was and drag it along the entire trail. We even had to ‘hide’ them at the trailhead so the favorites were there for next time. As he grew, the sticks he chose became small trunks, bigger and therefore better. They are still there.
In all the time we’ve known him, he never failed to lift those around him, even if only a little, with his big heart and boundless empathy. Always the problem solver, he brightened the day with his little bit of snark, his insights, and just being him.
My Son –
For 18 short years it has been my honor to be your dad. You were an easy baby, a hilarious toddler, and a wonderful little boy, who only got better as you grew. Along with your brother and sister, you have been my pride and joy. You had just become a man, and now we have to say goodbye.
Godspeed, my son, you are in your Heavenly Father’s arms now. I will love you from afar, until we meet again.
