Betty Mechavich

Betty Day Mechavich was born to Earnest and Millie (Snapp) Day on April 17, 1925.

She was born and raised in North Lawrence. She attended Woodlawn Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School.

Betty married Edmund Mechavich in 1948 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Betty was Chief Estimator for The Lawrence Paper Company from 1955 until her retirement in 1987.

Betty is survived by her husband, Edmund of the home; daughter, Nancy Landis, and husband, Armin of Oskaloosa; and one grandson, Aaron Landis of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Norma Day Cramer; and brother, Galen Day.

We are grateful for the care given by the staff at Eudora Medicalodges and Southern Care Hospice.

Memorials can be made to The Jefferson County Humane Society in Valley Falls, KS or the Lawrence Humane Society in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
