Archie Lee Coleman

Memorial services for Archie Lee Coleman, 79, Eudora, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery with Military Honors. He passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Archie was born September 13, 1935 in McDunn, West Virginia, the son of James Estle and Helen Lena (Martin) Coleman.

Archie served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years beginning 1956 until his retirement with the rank of Master Sargent in 1978. He was a Vietnam War Veteran.

After USAF retirement he was on the police force at the University of Kansas and then as a Deputy Officer in Eudora, for five years; he then was a security guard at the Hercules Army Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, KS until his final retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Virginia Broers (Coleman) and three daughters, Kerrie (Mark) Brecheisen; and Gail Fry both of Eudora, Cindy (Brian) Davidson of Tonganoxie; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Coleman, and two sisters Iris Newman and Kathryn Winebrenner.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Paul UCC and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    We are very sorry to hear of your loss of Archie. He will be missed by many for many different things he did during his lifetime. We enjoyed playing Pegs with him. We know that losing a spouse is one of the most difficult you can experience. Take one day at a time and use the support that friends and family are willing to give.     I remember the days we had our family reunions so many years ago. What a great time it was having us all together. The laughs and joy we had being close as family’s do. I loved hearing the stories we shared. Now they are all together again laughing and enjoying each other for eternity.. Till we meet again in the heavens above. May he rest in peace. Will miss him on the golf course whether betting with Dale or trying to teach me to putt, playing cards, enjoying the activities and friends at the RV park.
