    Great Grandpa Andy…
I remember you smiling. I remember you humming all the time. I remember you sitting in your chair. I remember you saying you were fine. I remember all your plaid shirts. I remember all your blue jeans. I remember my childhood with you, sadly not much of my teens. I remember walking around in the grocery store, helping you and grandma out. You were a strong man, I have no doubt. Fought through World War II, I have no right to ask much more of you, but please remember me. Remember all of your family. I know we were never close, but we were never that far. Though I don’t want to see you go, we will all remember who you are. You were my great grandpa, a dad, a husband, and much more. Soon we will all be knocking on heavens door. I know you’ll answer, a big smile on your face. Wrinkles and all, blessed by God’s grace. A halo around your head. Great big wings behind your back. All of this rightfully earned, and now we are the ones who lack. Lack the sound of you humming. Lack the ability to see you smile. But we wont worry because we will see you in a while. You are in God’s hands, and if I do say so myself, he is one lucky guy. We are all happy in our hearts, don’t mind our eyes that cry. You see losing someone special is like taking a chapter out of a story. There is so much that is missed, the climax loses some of the glory. But we have you on other pages, written in ink so it can’t disappear. I hope you get to read this, cause we all know you can barely hear. I hope this gets sent straight to you, and I hope you smile that Great Grandpa smile. I hope you reminisce on your life, start when you were a child. I hope you were surrounded by love and happiness, we send all of ours to you. I hope you watch over all of us, the old and the new. Know that we are grateful of all that you’ve done. I hope you had no regrets…none. Your life was a blessing to us all, not to mention it came in handy. Without you, I would not be here, most of us wouldn’t be. I think I speak for everyone when I say, I love and miss you…Great Grandpa Andy….. -Jordan

I knew Andy from the Senior Center. He was always there on Wednesday’s when I delivered meals with a smile on his face and a cup of coffee in his hand. What a nice man he was.
