I had the pleasure of knowing Alice for quite some time. I am one of the nurses at Kansas Dialysis/ DaVita that had the priviledge of caring for Alice. I say “caring” loosely, as I feel Alice took care of me as much I took care of her. She was always there to lend a kind word, words of encouragement and gave me insight into life. She was such a positive influence on all around her. I know she gave much encouragement to many of the other dialysis patients in our facility. Alice was someone who helped many of our patients deal and cope with the loss of a limb. She was a friend to me and always offered me encouragement and spiritual guidiance. I loved Alice and she will truly be missed. Bless you all in your times of loss. May you find comfort in your memories of her. And thank the Lord for allowing her to be a part my life.

I met Alice many years ago when she was patient at LMH, she was a inspirational woman, she always spoke encouraging words to me. She always told me we just have to leave everything in God’s hand and he will guide us. She will be missed.

Alice Fowler gave so much of her time and energy to the Lawrence Public Schools. Her service on the Board of Education has not been matched. She cared about students; she fought for students. She never lost her sense of direction. I have so much respect for the life she lived and I am grateful to have been affected by it. Thank you, Alice, for making a difference.

Many of you probably didn’t know that Alice first worked for the police department before transferring to the fire department. What a fine woman she was. Always friendly, always with a big smile, and always very kind. It’s my hope the Fowler family will take great comfort when reading these notes filled with all the great sentiments being passed along about your mother! To my old friend Earl, here’s hoping your grief will be comforted knowing your mother was so well thought of in people’s hearts! Take care my friend!! Mike Viebrock

We have all lost with the passing of Mrs. Fowler. She was a strong matriarch and respected member of our community. To her family, all of our love and prayers; you have certainly been tried losing two dear ones so close together. But, the legacy of family that you all have is so strong and so loving and so God-centered that I know you will be sustained. That is the blessing that remains from Miss Alice. Her spirit is still with you; and I pray that you will find comfort in knowing that you will see her and Ron again one day. Thank you for sharing them with the rest of us, we have all been so greatly blessed by their lives and their light.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My mother attended the visitation yesterday and was able to speak to people individually, but I want to pass along my condolences as well. Mrs. Fowler was someone I heard a lot about growing up from both of my parents, and I knew several of her grandsons from school. What a loss for your family, so close to the loss of her son, and for our community. Thank you all for sharing her with the city of Lawrence and the many people she helped as a part of so many hours of service. ~Morgan

I met Sister Fowler when she was still on the Board of Education. I immediately felt her sincere concern for young people. I got to know Sister Fowler over many years, she was such a kind, intelligent, strong woman.

I remember going to see her to pick her up for a drive around town. We talked about a lot of things including the health of my aging mother. Even as she struggled with her own health, Sister Fowler wanted to come to my home to visit with my mother to keep her company and pray with her. The next day she did exactly that , always reaching out to give to others.

I send my condolences to her wonderful family.
