Brian LeRoy Harrison

Brian LeRoy Harrison, a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at his home in McLouth, Kansas on October 1, 2024.  Born on September 20, 1959, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Alfred and Maxine Harrison, Brian was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Beverly Seele, Donna Hill, Jay and Vincent Harrison. Brian married Micky McKillip on August 27, 1985 in South Park, Lawrence, KS.

Brian is survived by his wife, Micky McKillip, his two sons, Augustus of McLouth and Ripp (Tiffany) Harrison of Lawrence.  His legacy continues through his three grandchildren, Pace, Evan, and Whit Harrison, who will forever carry his memory with them.  He is also survived by a brother and many loved nieces and nephews and friends.

Brian graduated from Baldwin High School, class of 1978, where he made lifelong friends.  He was employed by JE Dunn in the tower crane division as a supervisor and mechanical sharpshooter for nearly 30 years.  He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local #541.

A gifted artist, Brian’s creativity came to life through both metal sculpture and painting.  Brian had a passion for travel, camping and had a deep love for his dogs.  He was an avid participant and spectator at dirt track races, often working as a mechanic on his youngest son’s race car.  He also found great joy in the simple pleasures of life:   bonfires, spending time outdoors on his farm and planting flowers.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be at a later date at the family home in McLouth, KS.  Contact the family for details.

Memorial contributions may be made in Brian’s name to Jefferson County Humane Society, Lawrence Boys and Girls Club or the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
