I had the good fortune of getting to meet Howard briefly while working at the Applied English Center at KU some 20 years ago. Howard was always extremely kind, considerate and helpful; simply put, a fine human being. Deep condolences to his spouse, family and friends.

Dearest Linda, we are so sorry for your and your family’s loss of Howard’s presence here on earth, and are praying for you all. And we rejoice that Howard belongs to Jesus and is in His presence right now. Howard is one of the sweetest souls I have ever met in my life! But still we grieve our loss here, and we will continue praying for you all that Jesus comforts, strengthens and encourages you on this journey to seeing Howard again and seeing Jesus face-to-face.
We are so very sorry for this loss…your loss, a loss for all of us. Howard was always a kind and gentle presence to all who were blessed enough to meet him. While you don’t grieve as those who have no hope, the grief is most certainly real and agonizing. You loved him so well Linda. We are praying for your whole family as you mourn his absence here, but know he is in the presence of his perfect savior.
Much love,
Michelle and Randy Barnes
Prayers from our family to our Father in Heaven. May his mercy be upon you as your family enters through this new normal. Grieve knowing he is in the presence of the Lord and someday all believers will too see the glory of Heaven.
It was Howard who broke me in as a member of the Hospitality Team at Grace many years ago when we first met and were paired as ushers together. His heart for serving others was inspiring and contagious. The joy of Christ ran in and through Howard and out to the world around him. Glory be to God for Howard being a good and faithful servant.
Linda and Family, Howard, kind, gentle, and a wonderful colleague in the financial area of Grace; I was blessed to become acquainted with him, first by his team leadership in Sunday cash counting, then as he served on the Administration Team. Also, I looked forward to seeing you with him at our LMH classes. We do not grieve as those without hope, but we still grieve; I pray God’s presence and comfort will be known and will sustain you through this sad time.

Linda, we’re so sorry to learn about Howard’s passing. Howard, a helpful, gentle, warm, kind, calm and wise character. It must be tough for the family to loss such a well loved pillar of strength. May our wonderful memories of Howard lessen our grief about his absence and keep him very much alive in our hearts.
Sending hugs to you, Andrew and Micheal from faraway.
I met Howard through our involvement with KATESOL, the Kansas TESOL organization, and he was editor of the KATESOL newsletter, which was of very high quality always. More than that, Howard possessed wisdom beyond his years and a calm self-assurance which at the same time made those of us around him feel reassured as well. I have a clear memory of one of my last conversations with him, walking through the lobby of a big hotel in Seattle, where the TESOL convention that year was winding down. Just like me, Howard was angling for a good view of the big TV screen where KU Jayhawks were making their perennial run “almost” to the Final Four at the NCAA tournament. I was impressed by his precise knowledge of basketball in discussing the prospects for that year’s team. A little later, we ran into each other at the airport and the topic again was Jayhawk basketball. I bet Howard Pollock was a joy at the AEC as a colleague — he seemed to me, when we talked about TESOL matters, to have a personal and teaching philosophy emphasizing reinforcement and honoring the human spirit. I bet his international students at KU thrived in a learning atmosphere of kindness and respect. My condolences to Howard’s family and close friends and colleagues. God’s grace shone through Howard.
My sincere condolences to Linda and her sons.
I am so sad to rad that Howard passed away just the day before my daughter left France for a year of High school in the US.
I wanted to write to you Hiward and Linda before she joins early August by time goes so fast.
As a foreign student back in 1997 at KU I had so good times with Howard and his family to welcome me home to take me for some tours or shows and of course to be a very pleasant teacher as I needed some refreshments on my English level.
I really enjoyed spending some time at the University and in family with Howard’s family, full of kindness empathy and openness.
Really sorry to have waited so long to write you even some news once a year. I realize now how much I had good times there.
My sincere blessings to Howard’s family and friends from France.
