She passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Bridge Haven in Lawrence.
She was born October 11, 1922 in Dodson, Montana to Alfred and Hazel (Scheflo) Aspvik. Her family moved in two horse-drawn covered grain wagons to Paddockwood, SK, Canada in 1926 because of the dust bowl. It is there where she met and later married William “Earl” Beckman on March 10, 1942.
Being a World War II bride, a month after their marriage, she followed her new husband to the west coast and north to the Aleutian Islands. After returning from World War II, they farmed with her sister and brother-in-law. During this time, Alietha and Earl opened their home to a foster son, Mark Butler. In September, 1963, Alietha, Earl, and family moved to Lawrence. She worked for Hallmark Cards as an Expeditor, retiring in 1984.
Alietha’s belief in Christ and her family have always been the main emphasis for her. She was always willing to share the love of Christ through individual acts of kindness and volunteering in various organizations.

Alietha, you were a joy and will be missed.
Christine, sorry to learn of your mother’s passing.
Steve & Julie Green
My sympathy to you, Christine and Marilyn— and your extended family. Alietha always had a smile for everyone. Sorry I can’t attend her funeral service—our van is not available and not many of us drive or have cars anymore. I want you to know— it was my privilege to know Alietha.
I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea. The setting sun tinted her white sails with a golden light, and as she disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, “She is gone.”
On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and, at the very moment when my companion had whispered, “She is gone,” a glad shout went up in joyous welcome, “Here she comes!”
