Barbara (Bobby) Darlene Holland Clark, 99, passed away on Sunday, the evening of December 24, 2023, at Brandon Woods Assisted Living, in Lawrence, Kansas. Several members of her family were able to be at her side at the time of her passing.
Bobby was born on July 22,1924, in the family farmhouse, 4 1/2 miles north of Macksville, Kansas. Her parents were Herbert H. Holland and Emma M. (Henning) Holland. She was the only child of Herbert and Emma.
She married Fred L. Clark, also from Macksville, in 1946, following his service in the Army Air Corp, during WWII, as a fighter pilot. Bobby worked alongside her husband in their family business in Macksville, for over 40 years. Following their retirement, they purchased a home in South Padre Island, TX, where they resided for over 30 years. Fred preceded Bobby in death January of 2020.
Bobby participated in various organizations in Macksville over the years. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Methodist Women’s Group, the Legion Auxiliary, and the Macksville Ladies Research Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jo (Gary P.) Heinold, of Lawerence; her son, James F. Clark, of South Padre Island, TX; grandchildren, Aimee Strong, Natalie Jones, Shannon Tranbarger, Shawn Fisher, Casey Clark and Ian Clark; 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Bobby will be held at Brandon Woods, 1501 Inverness Drive, Lawrence, KS, 66047, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Additional Church services, and burial of their urns, for Bobby and Fred, will be in Macksville, KS, in the Spring of 2024. The date to be announced later.
Memorials, if desired, may be made in Barbara Clark’s name to the Ascend Hospice, and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
Bobby was such a beautiful person. She had style and a fabulous smile. Her Airplane jewelry was so unique and she was very proud of what it represented. She is missed.
Loved this beautiful lady and this world is lacking a beautiful soul now. I am grateful to have had her in my life.
