After his military service, Ted was a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier in the town of Columbus, Kansas for twenty-four years.  Ted was active with the VFW Post in Oswego, KS.  Ted and Alice played the roles of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus for a few years at the Oswego Christmas parades. Ted was a member of the Oswego, KS Planning & Zoning Commission for many years only leaving the Commission when he moved from Oswego to Lawrence, KS in 2023.

Ted loved spending time with his family, and his family loved him immensely.  He had a legendary green thumb with plants and flowers, raised birds and built model airplanes.  Ted never met a stranger.  He was always up for a conversation and a coffee no matter the time of day.

I was absolutely blessed with the opportunity to meet and care for Ted this year. He was one of the most kind, respectful, hilarious, and charming people I have ever known. Seeing him and getting to help him meant so much to me. I wish I could’ve asked him more. I wish I could’ve done more for him. He made every day better. I’m so thankful to God, the Universe, my angels and more and how they gave me the honor and opportunity to know, care for, adore, and love Ted. Not always do you feel, find, and have such a connection with your residents and patients as a nurse. He was truly like a grandfather to me. He was so joyful. Meeting his wonderful family and kids was an honor and blessing as well. Seeing his family photos, knowing how many beautiful people he helped create and how so many people get to live this magical, indescribable human experience because of him.. thinking about how his love and his energy is still with us, in our memories, hearts, minds and souls. I just can’t convey how much I absolutely love him. I will never forget him. May we see him again.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He was such a pleasant person and a hoot to be around. Was thinking of your Mom not too long ago and all the fun we had at the bank in Oswego. Hope I can make it to the Celebration of Life in Oswego when you have it. Would love to see you.
