Genevieve Darlene Guy, 88, of Eudora, KS passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 12, 2023. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Genevieve was born on December 8, 1934, in First View, CO to Edward Elza and Pearl Francis (Angel) Lee. She attended and graduated from Columbus (KS) High School in 1952. She was a member of FHA and Y-Teens, a Christian Youth Group. She married the love of her life James (Jim) Lee Guy on December 8, 1951, in Columbus, KS. They were married nearly 72 years. Together they raised four children, Alvie, Charlene, Lisa, and Teresa.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, brother Duane, sisters Retha Johnson, and Naomi Sutherland. She is survived by husband James L. Guy of the home, children Alvie E. Guy (Reta), Medicine Lodge, KS; Charlene E. Conner (Ron), Omaha, NE; Lisa M. Stoltenow (Scott), Eudora, KS; Teresa K. Rosenthal (Michael), Overland Park, KS; 11 Grandchildren, Tanya (Wendell) Rust, James (Eryn) Guy, Pearl (Christopher) Mendoza, Matthew (Karen) Conner, Crystal Gipson, Jeremiah (Angelina) Hartley, Joshua Hartley, Alvie J. Lavery, Jessica (Justin) Hamm, Amber (Tyler) Jackson, Branden (Lauren) Rosenthal; 21 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Genevieve is also survived by sister Wanda (MacDermott).
Genevieve was a member of the Eudora United Methodist Church, assisted with Children’s Church, and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a long-standing member of Deborah-Martha Circle. She directed the Good News (Christian) Children’s Club, worked at the Eudora Schools, and was a caring Homemaker. Genevieve was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, genealogy, and spent hours constructing puzzles.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Eudora United Methodist Church, 2084 N 1300 Road, Eudora, KS. Interment at Eudora Cemetery.
The Family will receive Visitors at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Warren-McElwain Funeral Home, 1003 John L. Williams Drive, Eudora, KS.
The family suggests memorials in Genevieve’s name to the Eudora United Methodist Church or The American Heart Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Genevieve was such a special soul. Always a quiet spirit of patience and understanding. She and her family have literally been friends with mine since before I was born. I have always felt loved and welcome in their home. Such sweet memories of moments we shared. She will be loved and missed by so many. Blessings to the whole family. (((Hugs))) love you.
