Michael Riley Mayfield

Michael Riley Mayfield, 70, Lawrence, passed away on Thursday August 24, 2023. 

Michael was born on July 8, 1953, in Salina, KS, the son of James and Wilavene (Selleck) Mayfield.

Michael served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate on the USS Thomas Alva Edison.

Mike completed a degree in Engineering Technology at Kansas State University and worked for many years as a mechanical engineer installing and repairing main propulsion units on ships and submarines.

He married Mary S. Holm on September 10, 1992, in Williamsburg, VA.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his brother, Jim Mayfield and sister, Kathi Mayfield. 

Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to live music, cooking and woodworking.  Mike was a volunteer at Rockbridge Area Free Clinic and  Rockbridge Area Relief Association.

The family suggests memorials in Michael’s name to The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
