He was born on April 2, 1934, in Beijing, China, the son of Yan Sheng and Jing Wu Chao.
He was a Heart Surgeon.
Survivors include his son, Ray (Beth) Chao, daughter, Li (Ken) Schoolland, brother, Yun Gao Chao, grandchildren, Kenli Schoolland, Andrea (Eric) Allen, great-grandchildren, David Allen, and Lyla Allen.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Jackie Cao.
The family suggests memorials in Robert’s name to Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
