Nick was born in Frisange, Luxembourg, the oldest of 5 children to parents Joseph and Suzanne. Nick was proud of his high marks in school, but his love was always soccer. Nick returned to Luxembourg many happy times over the years.
Nick met his wife, Inge (Weise), as a young man while traveling with his soccer team in East Germany. Nick and Inge immigrated to the US in 1961. They spent their first 5 years in Chicago, Illinois, and later raised their family in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Nick’s job with Trans World Airlines brought them to Kansas City in 1983.
Nick moved to Eudora, Kansas in 2006 after the passing of his wife and became a treasured friend to his disabled grandson, Nicholas. Nick moved to Arbor Court Retirement Community in 2018 where he met some wonderful friends.
Nick’s love for the game of soccer was a thread that ran through his entire life. His passion as a player and coach was unmatched, and produced many elite, championship teams. He was happily watching the World Cup on Thanksgiving Day with family the week before he went home to be with Jesus and his beloved wife.
Nick is preceded in death by his wife Inge, parents Joseph and Suzanne, and sisters Helene and Margot.
Nick is survived by daughters: Chris Swaney and Claudia (Rick) Evans; Grandchildren: Melissa, Jake, Madison, Nicholas, Aaron, & Matthew; Great-Grandchildren: Landon and Talon; sisters: Maisy and Therese of Luxembourg.
