Cheyanne Louise Branson

I cannot think of anybody stronger than a family who has lost one of their own and still breathes. Cheyanne Louise Branson, 23, was taken far too soon on Saturday, November 12, 2022 by a drunk driver. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on November 26, 2022 at First United Methodist Church – West Campus 867 US-40 Lawrence, KS, with Military Honors to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Cheyanne was born on April 10, 1999 to Christina Branson and Jim Anguish in Topeka, Ks. Cheyanne was such a light in this sometimes dark world, and she is deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She touched the lives of so many people across multiple states and many generations.

During her time with us, she was an active member of the United States 190th Air National Guard, she was so very proud of this huge accomplishment.

Cheyanne made a point to live life and always make people smile.  Most knew her as Chey.  She fiercely loved her family, her friends & her chatty cat Cleo.  Chey loved sunflowers, was a foodie, and was just pure joy to be around.

Anyone who knew Chey, knew that her family meant everything to her and in her eyes, each of you that touched her life was family.

Her love of life was evident in the way she lived.

Even just chilling with her coworkers, at home with her family or roomies Jamie/Michael, Muriel/Chase, or boyfriend Easton it always turned into a fun time.  This sweet girl could seriously belt out Adele tunes like no other, singing so off key yet doing it beautifully.

For us, she really is that pebble thrown into a lake as the lives she touched act as ripples that extend far beyond just us.

If there was one thing Chey was, that was determined… No matter what the challenge or request, she gave her all to ensure she exceeded all expectations whether for herself or others.

Cheyenne is survived by her parents Christina Branson.  Her 2nd family Amy/Gene McKissick.

Grandparents Michael/DeAnne Branson, Lonna Myers, Lois Jean Braunsdorf and Theresa Beilman.

Siblings Cameron, Macy, Danielle, Sophia and Derek.

Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Her Best Friends/Roommates Jamie, Michael, Muriel, Chase, Her entire United States 190th Air National Guard Family and her beloved boyfriend Easton, his parents Mark and Tammi Weems.  Countless others that she would want mentioned but far too many to do so.

The family suggests memorials in Cheyanne’s name to the Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, MO and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence KS 66044.

Cheyenne came into our lives a little over a year ago and instantly became part of our family. We shared the love of Sunflowers and had had a wonderful time during the holidays. She was a beautiful light and brought so much laughter into our family. I’m blessed to have gotten to know her and stay in touch with her through this past year. We shared some wonderful heartfelt conversations that I will cherish forever. You are in my heart always. Fly sweet girl, till we meet again.

    Dear Branson Family,

Cheyanne was a delight to work with last summer down south on our IRT mission. A little smart ass at times but she was great troop. I only knew her for those couple weeks but so glad I did.

My thoughts and prayers to all of her family and to her special friends at the 190th. Myself and our entire unit are devastated by what has happened. She always had such a light about her and friendly face and demeanor for anyone coming to FSS. She will be missed severely.
