Joan Anderson

Joan Lobb Anderson of Lawrence Kansas passed away November 27, 2021, age 80 years. A public graveside service will be held Friday December 3, 2021 at 3:00 pm in Acacia E section of Memorial Park Cemetery, 1517 E. 15th Street, Lawrence.

Joan was born February 4, 1941 in McLouth Kansas to Ruby Lorraine Bracken and Henry Allen Lobb. She married Peter “Pete” Alden Anderson June 29, 1962 and enjoyed a rich life of travel, family get-togethers and many loving animals. She is preceded in death by her husband Pete, son Craig, and sister June Morton. She is survived by son Todd Anderson, granddaughters Kayleigh Zaragoza and husband David Lassman, Meghan Brown and husband Christian, great granddaughter Vivian Brown, nieces Cindy (Tom) Nau, Angie (Reese) Nordhus, Becca (Randy) Hewes, nephew Ken Anderson, great nieces Jessica and Katelyn Nau, and great nephew Christopher Nau. Lest we forget her beloved granddog, Thor.

Joan graduated from Lecompton High School in 1959. She worked with her parents when they oversaw the Lakeview Country Club and Lawrence Country Club in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. She was a clerk at Raney’s Drug Store and later a teller at First National Bank of Lawrence. She then assisted her parents who owned Lobb Retail Liquor, which later became Anderson Retail Liquor. Joan retired in 1995.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    Cindy and Angie, So sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. I will remember her smiling face and always her being with Pete and her dogs. They were both a delight to know and I will miss them both.
