David Gregery Smith, 65, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at his home.
David was born June 13, 1953, at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Corona, California and was a Lawrence resident since 2010. He was a retired truck driver; Darwin’s Diesels; supervisor at Eugene Sand and Gravel and a parts service director at Ford and Toyota.
David was an avid surfer and salmon fisherman in Oregon and Washington States. He adored his companion dog, Eugene of 13 yrs whom preceded him in death Nov 20, 2018. Also, proceeding in death was his mother, Marguerite Smith and father, Benjamin Smith from Oceanside, California.
Survivors include long time companion and caregiver, Beverly Schuster of Lawrence, Kansas. A sister, Barbara Evans of Oceanside, California, a brother Jim Giera, of Tigard, Oregon.
I stiil think of you ask that pesky little brother to my dear friend, Barb. Your family has always been special to mine; you’re back with your folks now.
I knew David years ago and was blessed to be his sister in law for many years when he was so young and innocent. David was a sweetheart. He will be missed by many. Safe travels, David. Enjoy the universe!

Dave taught me to surf, and fish. Many many good memories. It’s been 20 years since I seen Dave but think of him all the time. Very sad to hear. Safe travels Dave.
