Gary Dean Jump

Funeral services for Gary Dean Jump, 77, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. He passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his home.

Gary was born on February 8, 1942 in Fredonia, KS, the son of Glenn and Crystal (McPherson) Jump.

He graduated from Altamont High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of VFW, ABATE and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed Volkswagens, motorcycles and fishing.

He was a warehouse supervisor for Del Monte formerly Quaker Oaks until he retired. He previously worked for Morgan Drive Away, Inc. as well as Allen Press and Wicks Lumber Co.

He married Josefa Santos Quintanilla on December 12, 1967 in Guam. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his five children, Barbara Cummins (Jim), McCune, KS, Joseph Quintanilla (Alma), Robert Jump (Heather), both of Lawrence, Nicole Wooden (Michael), Perry, KS and Michael Jump (Danielle), Hicksville, NY; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Glenda Stice, Parsons, KS; and two brothers, Richard “Dick” Jump, Topeka, KS, and Thomas “Mac” Jump, Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carolyn.

The family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
