A Memorial Services for Dessie P. Bickford, 83, Lawrence, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. She passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
Dessie was born July 31, 1934, in Raytown, MO the daughter of James and Ethel (Lathrom) Dean.
She married Gene Bickford on September 30, 1956 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Joe and wife, marci, Roy and wife, Kaiping, all of Lawrence, her daughter, Judy, and partner Robert Thornhill of Ramona, two granddaughters, Jessica Smith and Chelsea Weber, Chelsea’s husband, Drew, and three great-grandchildren, Abagail, Tucker, and Paul.
Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

I never hot the opportunity to meet Mrs. BICKFORD . I can only imagine what kind of lady she was. I have gotten the opportunity to meet her son Joe. She just must of been a wonderful lady. Im Sorry I miss her in my life. My condolences
Joe, Judy & Roy, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mother was one of the sweetest, gentlest people I have ever known. I remember when I was a little girl and she was a teenager and I thought she was so pretty and funny. She was always laughing and could talk faster than anyone I ever knew! I will miss getting to visit with her when I am in Lawrence. I am blessed to have had her for an aunt. Fred and I send our love and sympathy

We have a lot of fawn memories of your family.Always enjoyed visiting your family. your mom always had plenty of laughs and always seem to see the bright side of things, she was a sweet Heart.I can see her smile & hear her laugh. Your Dad always had some project he was working on or dreaming up one. Sorry we can’t make it to the service but we will be with you in our thoughts and prayers. We love you all.

So sorry—and surprised— to read of Dessie’s death. I’ll always remember her shouting across the dining room at Pioneer Ridge “Chair, chair” when the chair at her normal dining space was missing.
