I known Ernie only through our connection at KU but soon saw him as a caring inidividual and educator. He will be missed by the many that knew him.

I have known Ernie for approximately 50 years. Ernie was truly a brilliant, highly respected, military, and Christian gentleman. I will miss him very much. Our country has greatly benefited from his service as a citizen committed to serve in many ways.

Ernie was truly a brilliant citizen of the United States. He served as a highly respected military man, educator, and Christian gentleman. I will miss him very much.
Dorothy, Ernie and Emma were very dear friends to Judy and me. May the LORD bless and comfort you and your brother.
Dorothy,
I’m thinking of you during this time of loss. Both your Mom and Dad were tremendous servants and made an impact on my spiritual life.
Dorothy,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. He was so kind and caring when Peter and I attended Free Methodist Church. I loved hearing the story how Ernie and Emma met and married. They were great servants of God.
Dear Pogge Family: What a privilege it was to be a part of Ernie’s life. We are very sorry we won’t make the visitation or service but we want all of you to know how much we were bless by knowing Ernie. I (Carl) first met Ernie when he was a Captain teaching in the Engineer Officer’s Basic Course at Fort Belvoir, VA. I was a brand new 2nd Lt. and had no connection to KU. Later we would become fellow professors at KU; Ernie in Water Resources and I in Environmental Engineering. We both taught classes off campus beginning at the KU Med Center and the latest ones at the Edwards Campus. Ernie was the Lou Gehrig of the Water Resources staff. He taught lots of different courses as I recall and he did that for a long, long time. Ernie and Emma visited Joyce and me in 1994 while I was on sabbatical in Portugal. They did love to travel (it was great having a daughter who works in a travel agency). We are thankful that he and Emma are now reunited in the presence of the Lord Jesus who they served faithfully on this earth. What a great legacy for the Pogge family. Love, Carl and Joyce Burkhead
Dorothy,
What comfort and blessing to know your Dad and Mom are again together, now with Jesus, cared for and loved by Him. Praying that the Lord’s nearness and peace fill and comfort you in the days ahead.
Always were encouraged by the warm greetings from both Ernie and Emma so many Sunday morning worship hours at LFMC. Will be a forever memory of their friendship, and love of Christ.
“The Lord bless you and keep you,” and your entire family also.
In Christ’s Love,
Bob Bosanac
Dear Pogge Family ~
Your dad was such a delight to talk to! Over many years I heard stories about how he and Emma, when they were young and living in Seattle (at UW) came to Crista Ministries to get furniture for their apartment. What a vision those two reunited in heaven!! What a life well lived. I am so grateful for his generosity and care for poor and marginalized children and their families living around the world. I pray you two have LOADS of precious memories!! My sympathy on your earthly loss of your dad.
