Ed and Cynthia were both faithful participants for years in the University Forum sponsored by the Ecumenical Campus Ministries at KU. Ed and Cynthia always sat in the same place at the same table for lunch and read the Kansas before lunch was served. He was one who suggested outstanding speakers. He could always be depended upon to ask incisive questions and make comments that that were appreciated by others. When the UF needed a projector, Ed contributed one to ECM.
I visited them in their home several times and experienced a warm welcome. Ed was always the scientist, which I appreciated. He also was a father who cared deeply about his children.
The University of Kansas benefited from his passion for teaching and research…he will be missed.
