Leonie Oxley

Graveside inurnment for Leonie C. Oxley, 85, Eudora will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Eudora, Kansas. She passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Leonie was born August 8, 1930 in Charleston, South Carolina the daughter of John A. and Leonie (Tatum) Sottile.

She married Donald Oxley in August 1949 and they were married for 53 years until his death. She was a homemaker and raised eight children.

Survivors include her children, Don Oxley, De Soto, KS, Debbie Pierce, Gardner, KS, David Oxley Tucson, Arizona, Marianne Oxley, Eudora, KS, Linda Slimmer, Lawrence, KS, Tony Oxley, Gardner, KS, Janice Hopper, Topeka, KS; two sisters, Joan Aguirre, Arylnne Danielson, both of Kansas City, MO; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Oxley and daughter, Sharon Costa.

Memorials may be made in her name to Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Sorry to hear this. Janice’s inlaws were my neighbors where i grew up on Main Street in Eudora. Dave and Pat were good people.
