We will miss you at the shows…you will always be the one who rode a giraffe…Wille G. Raffe. There will be 2 babies (hopefully with spots) next year for you and Guy.
We have lost a great horseman and friend. KSHSC will not be the same without you. Rest high and thank you for all your encouragement and advice.
Arno, you will be dearly missed at the KSHSC shows…. you were definitely the “face” of the circuit. We love you!!!

You will truly be missed Arno. We have several fond memories of spending time chatting with you at horse shows. And of course all the wonderful pies and pastries over the years. We miss you. Sam and Kelley Chance
Arno will be greatly missed by his horse show and KU Fan families. We were all so blessed to call him a friend. Oh how I will miss cream pies that he would make just for me any time I put in a request. Please keep us posted on the memorial service in the Spring.
With great sadness we say goodbye to our founding horsemen. His spirit will remain in the Kansas State Horse Circuit & Douglas County Trail Riders with the many lives that he touched.
I, too, add my fond memories of Arno at so many DCTR & KSHSC events. May you enjoy the stirrup high grass, the always flowing cool, clear water and never ending rides with my mom and dad and so many others who have gone before you that enjoyed your equine and KU friendship.
I will hold the memory of a fine, loyal, multidimentional friend in my heart and am glad I knew him.
He was one of many fine professors for me at KU. I remember him most for the encouragement and support he gave me as I finished college and pursued my career. His interest was clearly genuine. I’m sure that he provided that same support to many, many others.
I entered KU after 4 years in the U S Navy in 1970. Professor Knapper helped bring me from a introvert to contributor in his organizational behavior class. He enlisted my help in counseling freshman and sophmores (during enrolemnet) wishing to enter the Business School. I am fortunate to have had him as a teacher and wish him well on his journey.
Arno, was a part of the Hayden family. He now joins most of the Hayden family. He was a wonderful, loyal friend.Great horseman, teacher,Baker&GArdener. We were blessed to have him in our lives.God bless you dear FRIEND!!!
