Rosalene Ann Kelly

Mass of Christian Burial for Rosalene Kelly, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Eudora. She died Thursday, August 31, 2017 peacefully and surrounded by her family. She was born February 8, 1929, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Alfred and Alma Seiwald.

She grew up on the family farm in Eudora, KS and attended Eudora schools until she left to attend Ursuline College in Paola, KS. She married Joe Kelly on August 10, 1949. Joe was a long time banker and civic leader in the Lawrence community for over 40 years who passed away in 2008. She was a homemaker and was busy throughout her life attending her children’s and then grandchildren’s school events, dance recitals, and sporting activities.
She was a member of the St. John’s Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Galyardt and husband Tom, Lawrence; two sons, Steve and wife Geralyn, Overland Park, and Pat and wife Chris, Olathe; eight grandchildren, Patrick Kelly and wife Jessica, Justin Kelly and wife Lauren, Mike Kelly and wife Courtney, Joe and Katy Kelly, Amanda Lachky and husband Stephen, Katelyn and Samantha Galyardt; two great grandchildren, James and Olivia Kelly.

A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, after which the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital- Palliative Care Unit, sent in care of the mortuary.

    So sorry to hear of your Mothers death, our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. We are not in very good health, would love to see all of her family. We know your faith and memories will sustain you.
