Lila Coral Avey Patton

Memorial service for Lila C. Avey, Patton, 89, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be held at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Lila was born on October 15, 1928 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Charles Odel and Blanch (Grover) Avey.

She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge

She was a custodial supervisor for the University of Kansas until she retired in 1997.

She married Don Edward Patton in July 1977, and he preceded her in death February 27, 1983.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicci J Erwin, Rhonda J Hunt, Judy L Crawford (Willis) all of Lawrence; Six grandchildren; Eleven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband William Edward Evans Jr; son, Jerold D (JD) Evans Sr.; two grandchildren, Marsha Mace and DeAnna Hunt; two brothers; and five sisters.

Lila enjoyed lots of family time, playing bingo, canasta, pinochle, traveling and spending time with her friends. When she was younger Lila also enjoyed water skiing, play ball with the kids, dancing and camping,

The family will greet friends at 10 a.m. one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the mortuary.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Many happy thoughts come to mind when I think of Lila ….. she loved life and always had so much to talk about.
    She will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
    Sending love and prayers to all of the family as you begin this journey in life without her…….. may you never forget the great times she shared with each of you and the many lessons she taught you over the years.

    Sorry I could not be here to help celebrate and aunt Lisa’s life. She left me with many fond childhood memories. I’m so happy I got to visit with her this past January. Love to all
