William Joseph Rice (Bill)

William Joseph Rice (Bill) passed away September 25, 2021 in his home in Tonganoxie surrounded by loved ones.

Bill was born on August 25, 1949 in Independence, Kansas to Franklin Hendrix Rice Jr. and Elvira Pearl Rice (Emry). The family moved to Tonganoxie, Kansas in 1965 where Bill graduated from Tonganoxie High School in 1967.

He was an avid fisherman, a master carpenter, and a great storyteller. Bill enjoyed watching and playing baseball, cooking and spending with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother Robert James Rice (Bob).

Survivors include son, Andrew Reynolds-Rice of Tonganoxie, daughter, Sara Reynolds-Rice of Depoe Bay, Oregon, daughter-in-law, Dawn Hawkins of Lawrence, and five grandchildren.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I went to high school with both Bill and Bob and always remember them as being really nice and friendly. Thoughts and prayers are being sent to all of Bill’s friends and family.

    Bill was a kind and good-natured person, whom I always felt comfortable around. I have many fond memories of times spent with Bill and Bob. My sincerest condones to his family.
