Funeral services for William Dale O’Brien, 43, Lawrence, KS will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, KS. Dale passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Dale was born on December 23, 1978, in Lawrence, KS, the son of Edward and Sandra O’Brien.
Survivors include his parents; grandfather, Walter O’Brien; sisters, Stephanie Wallace (John), Lindsey O’Brien, and Leslie O’Brien; significant other, Rhonda Salvador; ex-wife, Kelly O’Brien; canine companion, Chopper; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill, and Frances Mercer; grandmother, Geraldine O’Brien; and uncle, Mike O’Brien.
Dale attended Lawrence High School and was in the class of ’97. He worked many years as a concrete finisher for Comet Corp, Morgan Concrete, Jayhawk Concrete and Breakers Concrete. Most recently he worked for Standard Beverage Co. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, going to the dog park with his dogs, gambling, and crab legs, driving his Harley and Corvette, and hanging out with friends.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 10 am at Warren-McElwain. Internment will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to his memorial fund or the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
This is so sad. Dale was really a great guy ,with a heart of gold. He made a few poor choices but don’t we all. RIP my friend. til we meet again. Prayers for you Kelly and the rest of the family
