William “Bill” S. Zinn, Jr.

William “Bill” S. Zinn, 75, of Lawrence, KS, passed away on December 1, 2023 after a long bout with Parkinson’s Disease at Arbor Court Retirement Community where he resided. Born on October 10, 1948, in Lawrence, He grew up in Eudora, KS and spent most of his life there, living 11 years in Lawrence. Bill was a quiet and shy individual who was always willing to help others. He was known for his kind and compassionate nature.

Bill is survived by his sisters, Sandra Zinn Marshall (Husband, Ron) of Parkville, MO, and Shirley Zinn Sapp (Husband, Jon)  of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by his nieces, Debbie Randall (Evan) and Kristin Wallau, (Chris) both of Colorado and Traci Ditch of Rossville, KS. Grand nieces and nephews include: Dustyn, Taylor, Alex, Dylan, Ashley, and Courtney. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Katherine Zinn, and William Zinn, Sr. He is also preceded by his grandparents, Fred and Leoti Walker, and his uncle and aunt, Ray and Lucille Warmker.

Bill graduated from Lawrence High School and went on to work as a buildings and grounds maintenance worker at The University of Kansas until his retirement.

Bill was very involved in his church, volunteering for any need he could fill, including the annual Crop Walk fundraiser, being a member of the Trustees Committee and as head usher. In his free time, Bill enjoyed woodworking, antiquing, and collecting all things related to John Deere. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eudora United Methodist Church, located at 2084 N. 1300 Road, Eudora, KS, 66025. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at the Eudora City Cemetery.
