William “Bill” Eugene Riley

William “Bill” Eugene Riley, age 71, passed away on February 4, 2022, at the Hospice House of Olathe after battling brain cancer. Bill was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on August 27, 1950. He was one of fifteen children. Bill moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where he met his wife, Gloria Ramirez. They were married on January 27, 1973, and had one son, Patrick (Jill). While Bill lived in Kansas, he remained a devoted Oklahoma Sooners fan and passed on this passion to his son and a few other family members. He retired from ICL in 2015, after over 40 years of service. Bill is survived by his wife, Gloria, (Lawrence, KS) his son, Patrick (Duluth, MN) and his siblings: Juanita Moody, Delores Cain, Mary Smith and George Riley of Nowata, OK; Jessie Ellis of Bartlesville, OK; and Georgia Creason of Deltona, FL. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Lettie Riley, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

A celebration of life occurred on Wednesday, February 9th. Family and friends gathered to remember and toast his life. Bill’s remaining days at Hospice House were peaceful, he was surrounded by family, friends and staff who were warm and caring.

    I have so many wonderful memories of Bill but most of all his big smile and welcoming comments each time I saw him. I always knew he was there for me and my family. Oh how we will miss you.

    Gloria,
    I just heard from my nephew (Connie’s son) about your loss. If you recall, we knew each other during our early teen years when Connie and Max would take me to Lawrence to visit. Sorry I never got to meet Bill, but he looks like a very kind and joyful person whose companionship would be a great loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your familia.

    I apologize for this being so late but due to some health issues, I could not get around any sooner. So sorry for your loss. I worked with Bill at FMC from the time he started until I retired. Bill was a great guy, always happy and fun to be around. May he rest in piece.
