Wanda F. Dickey

Funeral services for Wanda F. Dickey, 70, Lawrence will be held 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in Eudora Cemetery in Eudora, KS. She passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at her home.

She was born November 23, 1950, in Brawley, California the daughter of George and Leona M. (Ryan) Shelton.

Wanda volunteered with O’Connell Youth Ranch for a number of years, working with the horses in an animal therapy program for the boys at the ranch. She drove bus route 16 for Grant School District with Mayflower/Laidlaw. Wanda was a Senior Representative on the 1-800-medicare line at NCS Pearson for a number of years.

She married Otis Wayne Dickey on April 3, 1971, in El Centro, California. They later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Dickey of Lawrence; daughter, Michelle Vassar of Lawrence and two grandchildren, Cody and Jessica Vassar.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. June 20, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Eudora, KS.

The family suggests memorials in her name to Helping Horses Foundation and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

    I am so glad I got to meet Wanda. She had a positive influence on many people throughout her life. I know your memories will sustain you. Continue to express the Faith, Hope, and Love she instilled through her example.
