Virginia Adams

A private memorial service for Virginia S. Adams, 92, Lawrence, Ks. will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  She died November 5, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 30, 1917, in Madisonville, KY the daughter of Forrest and Katie (Orr) Stevens.

Ms. Adams moved to Lawrence 11 years ago from Wichita.

Ms. Adams graduated from Madisonville High School.  She attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri.  Ms. Adams was an office manager with Western Lithograph Company in Wichita for over 30 years. After her retirement, she was a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ecuador for two years.  For more than 50 years, she was a member of Central Christian Church of Wichita, where she oversaw the nursery for many years.  She was the secretary for Joyful Noise Preschool at Central Christian Church for ten years.  

Survivors include her son, David and his wife, June, Lawrence, KS; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two nieces, Carol S. Layne and Helen L. Stevens.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to North Lawrence Christian Church and sent in care of the mortuary.
