A celebration of life for Tommy C. Jackson, 77 of Lawrence, will be held July 28th. The visitation will be between 2:00 and 4:00 at the Carnegie Building (9th and Vermont) in Lawrence, Kansas. Tom passed away Monday, July 24th, 2017 in Topeka.
Tom was born May 9, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas to Ted and Ollie (Mondy) Jackson and grew up in Fredonia, Kansas. He moved to Lawrence in 1964, and that would become his home for most of his life.
Tom made an impact upon everyone he met, from his decades as an automotive mechanic, working and making friends with fellow mechanics all across town, to his brothers and sisters of the Lawrence congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Tom passionately used every opportunity to preach the word.
Tom’s memory will live on through his wife Lori Jackson, of 39 years and through his sons. Tommy Jackson Jr., Tustin, CA, Darryl Jackson, Orange, CA, Kevin Jackson, Albuquerque, NM, Craig Jackson, Topeka, KS, and Darin Jackson of Lawrence, KS. His memory will also continue through his siblings, Jeanie Anderson, Jerry Jackson, Ted Jackson, Theron Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Nan Johnson and LaDonna Jackson-Martinez. And, through 5 grandchildren, and 16 nieces and nephews.
Tom joins his parents, his brother Bill Jackson, and his son Randall Jackson in the loving memories of their family.
Memorial contributions may be made directly to the family to help in this difficult time, and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Tommy. I got to know him pretty well here at Brandon Woods. He enjoyed talking about his family and going for walks. He will be greatly missed.
As being my Stepfather when you married my mother you raised me the best way any man could for how bad I was lol. Over the years we became pretty close and I learned how to love you. I will miss you very much and will never forget you. SIP Tom. Love James.
I also want to give my condolences to Lori and all of my Stepbrothers. Love you all.
Lori
So sorry to hear of your loss. I know what you are feeling as I have been there too. It is very difficult but will become easier as time passes. He will never be forgotten and will remain in your heart and memories forever.
Tommy you were a person I could come to for help whenever I needed some advice about a mechanic problem,we shared thought with each other Thanks, Loyce Bell
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your husband and father. Words cannot express the pain you may feel at this time. Jehovah, the God of all comfort, is there for you to comfort you. May your hearts find peace and comfort as you look forward to the time when you will see your husband and father in the wonderful paradise that God has promised.
My prayers are with the Jackson family at this time . Centuries ago, a divinely inspired prophet foretold the time when sickness and death will be “no more”. In the book of Job we are warmed to learn that all those asleep, in whom God’s memory stays, from death they will be awakened. The resurrection hope is a sure promise from Jehovah. And when he calls, the dead will answer. God comforts us in all of our trials. Therefore, talk to him in prayer. Prayer is real communication with our creator. Another way that God Comforts those who mourn is through his word, the Bible. Take this time to examine what Jehovah teaches us about the true condition of those who have died and the hope of a resurrection. Psalm 94:19
Lori and Darin our hearts go out to you at this time, the loss of a love one is never easy and now is the time to lean on Jehovah the God of comfort. Take to heart the scripture found at Revelation 21:3, 4 and look to the time when Jehovah will wipe the tears from your eyes forever. We are here for you whenever you need. We Love you all.

I am hoping the boys remember me, I remember both their parent’s, although I knew Mr. Jackson less time, I was a neighbor, on Ohio St. in Lawrence, I used to babysit all 4 boys, and I loved them so much, therefore, part of my love is for their father. We ALL grew up, moved away, I always wondered what happened to the Jackson’s, and such a sad way to find out.. Kevin’s dimples, and Randall’s diabetes, which I now see he went on before his father, something no parent should have to live through. My deepest condolences, for this man I barely knew, but respected all these years, I had no idea he was still in Lawrence, I left for years, still catching up on who is here or not. My heart goes out to all the Jackson family, and deeply to his wife Lori, whom sadly I have never met, and of course to his son’s and step son, I was raised by a step parent that loved me as his own, any man who steps up and loves a child as his own, is a wonderful man. God’s blessings to all, from your OLD neighborhood on Ohio St., in the “teensy” rock house across the street.. My heart is with all of you.
Julia Gregg this Tom Jr. I really appreciate your loving condolence please give me a call 714-244-7722 thanks also good memories on Ohio Street
