Cole Walker passed suddenly from this world into heaven on Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and devoted boyfriend whose death has forever changed the lives of those who loved him. He was 21 years old.
Named Timothy Cole Morris Walker, in honor of his maternal grandfather, Cole is the son of Paul and Katherine (Katie) Morris Walker. Cole was born on December 5, 2001 in Topeka, Kansas and lived most of his life in the Eudora community, recently moving to Lawrence. He was a member of the Eudora Methodist Church.
He graduated from Eudora High school in 2020. It was during high school that Cole completed classes to earn his CNA and CMA certifications. He used these certifications in his work at Homestead Assisted Living & Memory Care of Eudora. Cole found satisfaction in this job because of his compassion toward older adults and his enjoyment in visiting with them.
After graduation from high school and while working he completed classes at Johnson County Community College working towards a degree. His future plans included being a lineman after recently being accepted into a lineman’s program in Kansas City at MCCKC.
As a young child Cole was fascinated with words, inquisitive about how things worked and knowledgeable beyond his years about the makes and models of cars, an interest he shared with his father. As he grew into adulthood, so did his love and interest in cars. Working during high school at Eudora High he saved enough money to purchase his car, a Dodge Challenger, which he always kept in pristine condition.
During his childhood Cole developed an interest in Taekwondo, taking lessons for many years. He also enjoyed cooking, drawing, music, fishing, swimming at the lake, and playing video games. His rescue cat, Max, was a life-long companion for Cole. Because of his tender heart and love of family, members of both his immediate and extended families were always welcomed with a giant bear hug and a big smile from Cole. Our hearts are broken into a million pieces that those hugs will never be felt by us again.
In addition to his parents, Paul and Katherine (Katie) Walker survivors include his sisters, Sadie Walker, of the home, Ellie Walker, and Andrea Walker, both of Topeka; a brother, Aaron Walker, Washington, his maternal grandparents, Timothy and Sandra Morris, Holton; aunts, Stephanie Morris, Topeka; Erin Schwartz (Jason), Belvue; JulieAnne Magana, Kansas City; Mary Harris (Doug), Maine; Martha Abendroth (Dave), Arkansas; uncles, John David Walker (Donna Mae), Iowa; Rick Walker (MaryLynn), Hutchinson. 20 first cousins and 19 second cousins.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Josephine Walker, and an aunt, Becky Castro.
During his Junior year at Eudora High School Cole began dating his girlfriend, Ashley Campbell. Their love has continued to grow over the past five years. Ashley’s family (Shawn, Lori, Morgan, Bailey and Drake) welcomed him in and loved him as family.
A memorial service to honor Cole’s life will be held at Eudora Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. and then a graveside service at the Holton Cemetery at approximately 1:00 p.m.
A visitation will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Warren McElwain – Eudora Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made in Cole’s name (to be designated at a later date), in lieu of flowers and may be sent in care of: Warren McElwain Mortuary,120 West 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. Make checks out to “Cole Walker Memorial Fund”.
My sympathy to Cole’s family…he was an Angel on earth.
I knew Cole, from him working at Homestead, where my Mom lives.
I’ve watched him care for the residents with such kindness!
He treated them like they were his grandparents/loved ones. Cole was one of a kind, and belonged in that profession as he had such a big heart!
He touched my life and I feel blessed to have known him! He was definitely, raised right!!!
Rest in Peace Cole!

This is heartbreaking to read, as I too loved seeing Cole care for my Dad at Homestead of Eudora. He and I shared many laughs and stories together over the funny things he would hear or see my Dad say or do.
He always treated the families and the residents with such heartfelt kindness and always had the biggest smile! Cole will be dearly missed and I’m sure my Dad welcomed him with open arms and a huge smile because he and Cole became such good buddy’s.
Our hearts will hurt but they are also full of joy and love knowing what a sweet soul Cole was to so many.
Rest In Peace Cole, you were one of a kind!
Much love to his family during this difficult time.
My sympathy to Coles family.
Cole was such a kind, sweet young man who always has an infectious smile.
He took good care of my Dad while he was at Homestead of Eudora.
We shared lots of laughs an funny stories over the past year or so.
He took such pride in caring for our family members. He always had a funny story to tell me about something Dad had said or done and we would crack up laughing.
May you Rest In Peace, sweet Cole. You will be missed by many and a void will be left in so many hearts.
Cole trained me when I worked at Homestead. A very kind soul, always went above and beyond for the residents and made sure everything was taken care of. Praying for you all in this difficult time.
Words can not express my feelings for Paul, Katie, and all of the family. Another soul gone too soon.
I’m so sorry for your loss, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.
I have lived at Homestead of Eudora for over a year, Cole cooked me dinner the first night I was here. I have my cat with me. She loved Cole from the first second she met him! If Boots heard Cole’s voice outside our door she couldn’t wait for him to come in and give her loving. I feel animals are the best judge of people! Cole was the best of people. He was easy to love. He could share his love with us. He will be always be in my heart!
Our hearts are so heavy for Paul, Katie and family. May God wrap his loving arms around them. Sending our deepest condolences and many prayers for this wonderful family.
My heart broke to learn about Cole’s passing! I have no words to take away your pain Paul and Kate! You are in my prayers! Hugs from Southeast Kansas. I am almost housebound by vision issues and rheumatoid arthritis and unable to drive.
Heartfelt condolences to the Morris and Walker families. There are no words to express the sadness felt at your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss of such a fine young man. May God bless all of you and keep you in his loving arms. Stay strong in your faith and you will always have him in your heart. I lost my 16 year old grandson to a since less tragedy 13 years ago and I carry him in my heart ❤️. Your memories will overcome your grief one day and you will smile when you think of him. Treasure those memories. He is always with you.
Katie, I have no words. The words written about your son are absolutely beautiful. Thoughts and prayers to you and all of your family, God Bless you, your family, and Cole. My father gave a sermon on the passing of a loved one and his focus was on the quote, “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body, temporarily.” Cole is gone way to early, but this is not the end.
Paul, Katie and family…..my heart aches for you. Know you are in my prayers.
I worked under the leadership and mentorship of Cole for the majority of my senior year of high school while working at Homestead. I was blessed to have some incredible conversations with him and to know his heart for people, his brain for tackling real-world problems, and his hopes of traveling and seeing the world one day. He was so encouraging to me in my future path of life and I genuinely delighted in the shifts I was able to work alongside him. I am incredibly disheartened by this news, but am more far more appreciative of the time he was here and for the honor it was to care for our beloved residents alongside him. His family and friends will be in my prayers as they face this difficult season of mourning.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’ve enjoyed watching him grow up with all the kiddos in his high school class. My heart aches for you ❤️
Our family sends our condolences. We are so very sorry for your loss. Everyone I’ve met that knew him spoke of a gentleman and a kind heart. The world is a lesser place without men like him.
Cole was a kind soul just like his mom. I have no words to help your pain so just know i love you and am praying for you and your family.

I am one of Cole’s patients, and I just wanted to say that he was very-kind and wonderful at his job as a nurse. I am very sorry and I will miss him very much. I can’t believe that he won’t ever come to my apartment to visit with me. Everyone here in shock. We will be missed him every day .
