Thomas DesLauriers

A Celebration of Life Service for Thomas DesLauriers will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Tom passed away Tuesday, March 19th at Kansas City Hospice House. At 39, he departed too soon.

Born in London, Ontario, Canada, to Austin DesLauriers and Margaret Gille, Tom spent his early years in Kansas City and Great Bend, KS. After graduating from Great Bend High School in 1998, he attended the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science. Afterwards he made Lawrence his home where he had two children and worked in customer service.

Tom was a people person who enjoyed the simple things in life. As an avid sports fan, he loved watching the Chiefs, Royals and KU play and did so often with his family. He treasured playing catch with his son Treyton, spending time at Pet World with his daughter Adelayde and took pleasure in a good game of Frisbee Golf. During the heat of a Kansas summer, Tom found a trip to the family island in Ontario, Canada refreshing and a welcome respite.

He’s survived by his two children Treyton Alexander and Adelayde Paige DesLauriers, his mother Margaret Gille, father Austin DesLauriers, brother Nicholas DesLauriers, nephew Andre and his former wife and mother of his children, Anna Brunk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to a Charity of Choice and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W 13th St, Lawrence KS, 66044.

My deepest sympathy for this most difficult time.

Please find comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father hears and is listening to your prayers for comfort. He too recognizes death as an enemy (1Cor. 15:26) and truly understands the depth of your grief and loss. “God is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit.”—Psalm 34:18, 19.

Again I am so sorry for your loss.

To my Uncle Austin, my Aunt Margaret, and my Cousin Nick. It’s been over a year now, i still don’t understand life. I guess i never will. To bring a Blessing “My Cousin Tom” into the world and then have it taken away. Yes I’m bitter, i have been bitter since i lost my Mom and everyone else i knew and loved through death. It hurts everyday, a pain almost unbearable. Forgive me if i seem rude. I don’t mean too. I just wish sometimes that it should’ve been someone else i didn’t know. That i didn’t love. But that wouldn’t make me feel any better. I huess what I’m really tring to say Cuz, is that i miss the hell out of you and I’m not just speaking about myself. I say i speak for most of us. So Tom, if your diwn from Heaveb at Me, please help me to Heal and to Accept. I hope that Heaven is every bit of 100! I love and miss you cuz. JeanneMarie
