Theodore F. Fay Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial for Theodore F. Fay Jr., 80, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lawrence. He passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Bridge Haven.

Theodore was born November 15, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Theodore Sr. and Elizabeth (Beem) Fay.

He married JoAnn December 27, 1958 on in Iowa City, Iowa. She survives of the home.

Theodore graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1962 and began practicing law in the United States Army where he was also a Judge. He served as the assistant Attorney General for the State of Iowa. He was the Director of the Healthcare Stabilization Fund for the Kansas Insurance Department. He became partners at Kramer, Nordling, Nordling and Fay in Hugoton, Kansas and Holbrook and Heaven and Fay in Kansas City, Kansas. Theodore had the opportunity to go with the People to People Group of Kansas Lawyers and Judges to China in 1981.

He was also a stockbroker in Lawrence, Kansas from 1979 – 1984.

After retirement in 1999, Theodore enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.

Other survivors include his children; Douglas Fay, Kathy (Alan) Ikenberry, Lynne (Greg) Ledom, Sean (Rosma) Fay, eight grandchildren; Amber (Joel), Brad (Kendra), Katie (Branner), Charlie, Patrick, Max, Sarina, Sarah and eight great-grandchildren.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Bridge Haven or Parkinson’s Foundation or Douglas County Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
