Shirley Anne Schmidt

Graveside services for Shirley Anne Schmidt, 80, Baldwin City, KS., will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, at Stony Point Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS. She passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
She was born December 10, 1937 in Meade, KS, the daughter of Abe and Helen Friesen (Wymer).

She married Elmer Schmidt, April 12, 1957, in Dodge City, KS.

She worked as a Dental Hygienist at Ulysses General Dentist in Ulysses, KS., for Dr Lewis Palmer.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Schmidt; four daughters, Kristy Enegren, Kerry Schmidt, Joanna Vesecky, Brenda Owens; two sons, Loren Schmidt, Kevin Schmidt; one brother, Verle Friesen; one sister, Ruth Anne Smith; ten grandchildren; Brendan Schmidt, Katelynd Schmidt, Keturah Schmidt, Olivia Schmidt, Alyssa Enegren, Dalton Vesecky, Lacey Vesecky, Holly Vesecky, Michael Lauer, Hayden Brent; one great-grandchild, Braxton Enegren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Abe Friensen, Jr., and one grandchild, Ayla Vesecky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heifer International and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Dear Family,

    We just wanted you to know that we were sorry to hear of the loss of Shirley. We regret that we will not be able to be at the graveside service on Monday, but want you to know that our thoughts and prayers will go with you as you remember and reflect on your mother’s life. May God comfort each of your hearts during this time of deep loss.

    Even tho i am unable to make the trip, my prayers & thoughts are with my family. I am so glad i got to spend the week in January with my sister helping her out, talking & laughing. Egg drop soup!!

    Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I will always remember how she loved to pack the OCC shoeboxes and loved the children. My memories of her will always be her holding and tending to a little one.
