Sharon Kaye Leftwich

A visitation for Sharon Kaye Leftwich, 82, Lawrence, KS, will be held from 5pm to 7pm, Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at McLouth Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Davis City Cemetery in Davis City, Iowa. Sharon passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Arbor Court in Lawrence.

Sharon was born on April 19, 1941, in Leon, IA, the daughter of Earnest and Hazel (Petticord) Cartwright.

She married Gary Beasley and together they had three daughters. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends. She married Jack Leftwich and together they traveled the world.

She was a wife, mother, and artist.  She loved all types of crafts including painting, wearable art, and jewelry.  She also created cards of inspiration which she sold with proceeds going to the Parkinson Foundation.  She was a member of the McLouth Baptist Church, the Lawrence Chrisitan Women’s group, Quilt Guild, and most importantly, the Desperados.

Survivors include her daughters, Julie (Cameron) Sherve, Tammy (Calvin) Willits, Shelly (Debbie) Beasley; grandchildren, Morgan Sherve, Travis Sherve, and Jared (Allison) Willits; two great-grandchildren; and Gary Beasley.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Leftwich, her parents, her siblings, Darlene Dubes, Helen Latta, Gerald Cartwright, her grandson, Brady Willits.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon’s name to Douglas County VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
