Graveside services for Roy Alvin Derrick, 80, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Roy passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022.
Roy was born on May 14, 1942 in Washington, KS the son of John and Ilah E. (Jennings) Derrick.
He was a Supervisor at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, Kansas until he retired.
Roy loved puzzles, estate sale shopping, building bird houses, playing games, boating and water skiing and he loved to travel.
Survivors include his sister, Sharon Beach, Redlands, CA; friend, Melvin (JoAnn) Stapleton; two nephews, Justin, Toronto, Canada, Shawn Beach, Lawrence; and one great niece, Marley Beach, Canada.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roy’s name to the Lawrence Heights Christian Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
Really sorry to hear about Roy’s passing. Nice guy. Hate to lose another old Hallmarker.
So sorry to hear that Roy has passed. I did not know him well, but I worked at Hallmark too, and saw him around a lot. More recently I would run into him at Perkins often, so I thought he probably enjoyed that.
