Funeral services for Rosemary Hatcher, 86, Lawrence, KS will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, KS. She died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Windsor of Lawrence in Lawrence, Kansas.
She was born on September 6, 1924 in Plainville, KS, the daughter of Otto Theodore and Florence Lorene (Burgell) Thornton.
She worked as a quality auditor at Hallmark Cards for 26 ½ years before retiring in 1984.
She formerly worked as a switchboard operator in western Kansas and at Stokely-Van Camp in Lawrence.
She married Kenneth R. Hatcher on October 11, 1952 in Bentonville, AR. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include one sister, Wanda L. Poole, Commerce City, CO; and one brother, Johnnie Keith Thornton, Chase, KS.
The family will greet friends 5 – 6:30 p.m. Friday, at the mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

Aunt Rose was a wonderful person. I will always cherish the memories of the time I spent with her.
Aunt Rose was a Lovely Lady, she always treated Jessica & I w/ respect. Her memory will always be in my Heart. I enjoy watching Aunt Rose interact w/ Jessica when she was a Toddler. Aunt Rose had a special way about her that could make her laugh & put a big smile on her face. That memory will be in my Heart for ever.

What a beautiful picture of Rose. She always had a wonderful smile. Rose and Kenny’s hearts and home were always open to us when we lived in Lawrence while Bob was attending KU. Always enjoyed going to their house. No one ever left hungry or unhappy. Thank you Rose for always being so kind.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rosemary will be dearly missed. I remember going to her house when my dad would go see Uncle Kenny.
That is my pretty Aunt. Love her and miss her dearly.
I have fond memories of “Aunt Rose’. I would go over to the McCartney’s house when I was friends with Louise and Sheila. My mind tells me she would sneak in fried chicken every now and then! My heart goes out to you, and I love all of you ’McCartneys!
For the last few years while i was helping my Best Friend Jan renovate her home, I got the wonderful opportunity to get to know “Aunt Rose” as we took her chicken and had dinner with her on most sundays. She grew on me as if she were my own aunt. What a beautiful woman! Her humor and compassion will never be forgotten! My heart goes out to the entire family, but especially Jan and “Uncle Kenny”.
