Robert Lee (Bob) Campbell passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at LMH Health in Lawrence, Kansas.
Robert was born September 15, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Willis and Laura (Anthony) Campbell. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and Michigan State University.
Bob spent his professional career in institutional advancement, including serving as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at the Kansas University Medical School Endowment Association, retiring in 1998. He spent time focusing primarily on higher education and healthcare throughout his career. Bob also enjoyed his opportunities acting in films, especially in a film he was in with Clint Eastwood, “Every Which Way But Loose” . For more than 35 years, he was a volunteer broadcaster at Audio-Reader Network and served on their Development Committee.
His parents and brother Billy Campbell preceded him in death. Bob married Trudy J. Rinne on October 9, 1982, in Lawrence, Kansas, and she survives.
Other survivors include his two children, Jon David Campbell, and Kristin Lee (Campbell) Palecki, her husband Scott Palecki, and seven grandsons: Joshua Daniel Palecki, Jack Christopher Palecki, Zachary Scott Palecki, Peyton David Campbell, Samuel James William Palecki, Thomas Campbell Palecki, and Beau Brooks Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Audio-Reader Network at the University of Kansas. These memorials and any others may be sent in Bob’s name in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
There are no formal services scheduled at this time but will be scheduled at a future time.
Bob was a wonderful husband and fathers and he will be missed.
Jon and Kristin–So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was my favorite parent of a friend. I’ll always remember when he stepped in to coach our baseball team for the rest of the season after our previous coach got run out of the league for slugging the umpire!

Trudy, I’m so sorry to learn about Bob’s death. I always enjoyed those brief encounters with him. May the comfort of God hold and sustain you one day at a time.
Trudy sorry about Bob, he and you were a great couple. I just lost my youngest brother Bart today and in January my oldest brother Don Jr been a rough year. LOVE YOU Judy Heble your crazy cousin!!!!!!!!
