Gladys: Sorry to hear of your loss. I know you were of great help to him in his final days and I hope you know you have many friends praying for you and your family at this time. Sorry I won’t be able to come to his service (even though I am just down the road in Ottawa) but know I will be thinking about you and your grief on Saturday.

    Dear Gloria, Steven, and Jason,

My sympathy for your loss. I will always remember Bob chasing after me and Kenny as children. Especially, I will remember his make believe friend, “PooBoo” growing up and I will miss Bob’s Sunday evening calls.

    All my love,
    Patty De Armond

Bob and I had been friends since my first day working for the Postal Service in Topeka with him in December of 1979.  When our jobs were relocated out of state in1986, we parted ways to different parts of the US, Bob to Minnesota and Me to Pennsylvania, thinking we would probably never work together again. However that changed, thanks in big part to Vern Glover, who was impressed by Bob, and asked him if he knew anyone else with his work ethic. I was the first person Bob thought of.  So, instead of another relocation with the Postal Service to Raleigh NC, I was headed to Kansas City to work at the USDA data center, not yet known as NITC.  Getting that call from Bob made my life far better than I could have ever imagined.   I will be forever grateful for having known Bob all these years, and having been able to call him not only a colleague, but a true friend for life.
