    Aunt Rita,

You have been one of the best influences I’ve had. I will forever miss your smile and our game show marathons. We always got the answers right and talked about how we should have our own team. I will always cherish the history of our ancestors that you shared with me too. You brought joy everywhere you went. Thanks for always reminding me of the goodness in others and in this world. Mayowa and I promise to make you proud. Rest in Paradise, thanks for always being my earthly angel.

Grandma, as I always call you, I believe you know how much you mean to us all. Your lovely smile and word of wisdom is a gift from God to humanity through you. The memories we shared together with you are so numerous that we will live to forever remember them. I will miss those times of good history, eating my favorite breakfast with you, and the best moment of having vanilla ice-cream together.
Thank God for how you spent your life on earth, I love you and I will keep loving you. Death did not take you away, but you have gone to the right-hand side of the Lord to rest. Keep resting in the blossom of the Lord till we meet again. I want you to know that we will forever have you in our heart, thank you for living a selfless life. We have learned so much silently from you, your consistent devotional life, and your generous heart.
I and Latavia will be sure to make you proud, in everything we do. We are glad you are no longer in pain. We love you, but God loves you more. Goodnight grandma.

On behalf of Aunt Rita, I want to thank 9th Street Missionary Baptist Church for your outpouring of love and affection. Consistently, cards were sent. COVID-19, did not allow visitors, however, members of the church called daily, it meant so much to her. During her illness, I asked her what she missed the most, her response “I miss church”. Every morning, when Aunt Rita was well, she could be found at the kitchen table reading her daily devotion and reading the Bible. I will miss the Wednesday noon Bible studies, with Aunt Rita. Nancy, Aunt Rita’s niece passed last year, she studied our lessons and assisted Aunt Rita. Aunt Rita was devastated by her loss and the loss of Lester Walker another close family member.

To the family and friends, she loved us individually and accepted us collectively, for that reason she will always remain in our hearts.
Thank you Visiting Nurses, Jaime, and Dr. Schnose; Therapy Works, Michael her Physical Therapist. Your love and compassion will never be forgotten.

Lastly, Zeke her canine companion: Zeke a trained therapy canine, slept with Aunt Rita every night, and kept her company each and every day. He is mourning Aunt’s passing , and did not eat for several days. Upon his visitation at the mortuary, he was distraught and barked, as if to wake her up.
Pray for Zeke as we continue to visit Nursing Homes and take care of the sick.

Today “ This is a day the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad”, we are sad and our hearts are heavy. She would want us to celebrate this day, as she sits in heaven with all her family and friends. She was a prayer warrior, gentle spirit, but, no push over.
Always in our hearts……..our love for Aunt Rita, she would want you to help someone in need, pour it out , God will fill your hearts with overflowing love, as she has ours.

Today our hearts are heavy. Our beloved sister-in-law has begun her life in heaven. We rejoice that she is with the Lord and is no longer in pain. She was such a joy to be around. We always looked forward to our visits with she and Henry. She always made us feel so welcome and went out of her way to make us comfortable. Rita was a wonderful wife. Her devotion to Henry during his illness was an example to all of us. We find solace in knowing that she has been reunited with Henry, Mattie, Deborah and all of those who have gone on before her. Rest In Peace dear Rita. You have been a good and fateful servant.
