Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Joseph Kieffer, 80, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Richard passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO.
Richard was born March 23, 1938 in Buffalo, NY, the son of Leo and Leona (Graves) Kieffer.
As a chemical engineer for Dupont he earned two patents.
He married Mary Ann Diesfeld on September 16, 1961 in Buffalo, NY. She survives of the home.
He was a devoted husband and father and will be dearly missed by all.
Other survivors include his children, David Kieffer (Kimberly), North Aurora, IL, Lynda Kieffer (George Chang), Old Saybrook, CT, John Kieffer (Toye), Peculiar, MO, Kathleen Dean (Patrick), Cherryville, NC, and Daniel Kieffer, Raymore, MO; ten grandchildren, Andrea, Kelly, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Keanna, Matthew, Jamie, Joshua, Andrew; and brother, Father Jack Kieffer, SJ; and sister-in-law, Carol Kieffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thomas Kieffer.
The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday October 27, 2018 at the church.

Richard was a dearest friend, teacher and mentor to me. His devotion to work, family and God were exceptional. Well-rounded in all facets of life, Richard was truly a gentleman of value, virtue and peace. He will be dearly missed.
