Richard C. Bivens

Services for Richard C. Bivens, 89, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m., September 6, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. He died August 31, 2019 at Baldwin Healthcare Center.

Richard was born October 10, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Nathaniel Wayne and Adeline Ella (Guion) Bivens.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence, since 1980. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was always a provider for his family.

He worked at the University of Kansas as a custodial/landscaping administrator for a number of years. He also worked as a sales representative for Miracle Ear.

He was married to: Nancy (Brauns) Bivens, Margaret (Thomas) Bivens, Shirley (Coyne) Bivens.

Survivors include his children, Richard D. “Rick” Bivens of Kansas City, Wendy and husband Rick Hartwick of Manhattan, KS; Jeffrey “Jeff” Bivens of Lawrence, KS; three grandchildren, Darcie Hartwick, Christopher Hartwick and Jeremy Bivens. He was preceded in death by his siblings.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13^th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
